Quote of the week

"I have learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."

  1. Do you need to create the content for the flipped portions?
What if you created a list of the objectives you want to teach and then search for existing videos of that content? Then you would have an opportunity for the kids to hear the lesson from different teachers.

Even though kids watch some videos outside of class, the entire direct instruction is not usually done at home. By using other teachers/publishers' video for your concepts, you can increase the resources available to your students and teach them that they don't need to wait on a teacher to find out what they want to learn. Creating lifelong learners who feed themselves...

Just a thought. I could be totally wrong. :)

  2. I agree with Sheryl. There are lots of videos out there. I have heard that the Khan Academy website is a wonderful resource.
If you are recording your own videos which program will you use? How will the students access these videos? Does every student have internet access at home? If not, how will you accommodate them?
I do not know much about the Flipped Classroom model. However, it does interest me a bit. I know the students are expected to watch the videos at home. Is there something the teacher has to do to keep up with that? or do you just trust them?
